The Opportunity

The Purchasing Officer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and ordering materials for jobs within the Insurance Repairs and Major Loss divisions ensuring timely delivery for minimal impact to repair lifecycles. This role will ensure that the majority of material purchasing is brought in-house and there is downward pressure on our material costs across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Work with customers and assessors at a quoting stage to select products

Obtain sign-off from customers

Source the best products for quality, price, and delivery time

Discuss and negotiate pricing with suppliers

Manage rejection of goods, returns, and reimbursements

Identify supplier opportunities and work with Supplier Performance Manager to connect with account managers and business development managers.

Keep pricing up to date and ensure it’s shared with the relevant internal stakeholders

Ensure all internal files, records, and stakeholders are kept up to date with changes to delivery dates or material types.

Essential Criteria

Excellent organisation skills to keep track of orders and requests across the repair space.

Good understanding of pricing, material selection, ordering, and logistics

Possess the ability to multi-task, prioritise and manage their time effectively

Possess an ability to, at times, work under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail and quality to meet contractual time based KPIs

Possess exceptional interpersonal skills to engage and manage internal and external relationships within the company

Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment

Ability to build a rapport with all stakeholders and to work cooperatively and effectively to achieve common objectives

Be personally energetic, positive and possess the ability to think laterally and act through reasoned decision making

Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
