Eastern Health is one of Melbourne's largest public health services. We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services, including maternity, palliative care, mental health, drug and alcohol, residential care, community health and state-wide specialist services to people and communities that are diverse in culture, age, socio-economic status, population and healthcare needs.
Eastern Health's Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health Service (ICYMHS) is one of thirteen specialist mental health and wellbeing services in Victoria providing a comprehensive range of inpatient and community based multidisciplinary teams for infants, children and young people up to the age of 25 years and experiencing significant mental health or emotional, behavioural and/or developmental challenges, and their families.
About the role
The Community Engagement Team has a key role in developing and maintaining effective relationships and partnerships between the Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health Service and education, health, welfare and other government/non-government agencies and services across the Eastern Metropolitan region, with the aim of promoting effective, integrated mental health services for infants, children, young people and their families.
As the Team Leader of the Community Engagement Team you will:
Lead the development of effective partnerships and relationships with key services and agencies across the Eastern Region
Oversee delivery and review of the ICYMHS secondary consultation program, including provision of regular secondary consultation to education, health and welfare services within the eastern region and provide supervision to ICYMHS clinicians delivering secondary consultations
Oversee the delivery and evaluation of an annual program of community education seminars,
Co-ordinate and deliver Youth Mental Health First Aid training, and other trainings as required to key agencies and professionals with the region
Co-ordinate the delivery of the Youth Suicide Response and Recovery Protocol
Engage in and provide opportunities for networking and liaison to develop collaborative working relationships with our community partners.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
Current registration with AHPRA; for Social Work, eligibility for membership of AASW
Highly developed clinical expertise in Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health
Extensive experience in clinical and operational leadership
A high level of experience in providing primary, secondary and tertiary consultation
Demonstrated experience in the establishment, ongoing coordination and evaluation of community programs and activities.
Demonstrated experience in the planning, delivery and evaluation of mental health training,
High level communication, written and verbal, with demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills and effective management of key stakeholder relationships.
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
