Tax Accountant

• 3 month contract (Possible Extension)
• Based in Parramatta CBD
• State Government Department

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Tax Accountant professional to join our State Government client.

About the role:

As a Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing tax returns for a diverse range of clients, with a focus on individuals and deceased estates. Your ability to effectively communicate and liaise with clients, including families during sensitive times, is crucial. This role requires a team-oriented professional who can also work independently and manage their workload efficiently.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Preparing and lodging tax returns. This is a core function, covering individuals, companies, trusts, and other entities. This also includes preparing and lodging other statements like Business Activity Statements (BAS).
• Analysing financial data examining financial records, income, and expenses to ensure accuracy and compliance with tax laws.
• Managing tax payments, calculating tax liabilities and ensuring timely payments to the relevant tax authorities (e.g., the ATO).
• Keeping up-to-date with tax law, Staying current on changes to federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations to ensure all filings are accurate and compliant.

Your profile will demonstrate:

• You have a strong background in tax accounting and are ready to hit the ground running.
• Experience with H&R Block is highly preferred, but we will consider candidates without this specific experience.
• You're an excellent communicator with a caring and professional approach to client relations.
• A CA/CPA qualification is preferred but not necessary, we encourage candidates with a strong accounting background to apply.
