Role Overview
Flinders Port Holdings Civil and Construction team is experiencing an exciting period of growth. With major projects underway and continued investment in new equipment, we’re expanding our capability.
This growth has created an opportunity for a Civil Leading Hand. This role will contribute to the efficient and effective maintenance of Flinders Port Holdings assets by leading a small team of operators and labourers.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Civil Team Leader in the coordination and delivery of civil maintenance and project works on site;
Act as a hands-on leader, actively participating in daily tasks including the use of tools and operation of civil equipment;
Provide daily direction and support to team members during task execution, ensuring work is carried out safely and efficiently;
Promote safety by identifying hazards, managing contractors, and fostering a positive safety culture;
Conduct daily toolbox meetings and pre-start briefings to communicate work plans and safety priorities; and
Provide support to the Civil Team Leader and step into the role as required to ensure continuity of supervision and work coordination during absences.
About you
Your skills and experience will include;
Civil Construction trade qualifications or significant civil experience;
Essential licences - excavator, front end loader, skid steer, and HR or HC licence, with ability to obtain others as needed;
White Card and valid Driver’s Licence;
Experience and ability to lead small teams when required, work collaboratively in a multi-skilled team, and communicate effectively with others;
Strong understanding of WHS practices, JSEAs, hazard identification, and incident reporting is essential; and
Reliable, proactive, and able to manage time well with minimal supervision.
