Blackbird Industries is a family owned building company providing commercial & industrial buildings, sheds and garages. A full time position has become available for an experienced welder/metal fabricator leading hand to help run our workshop.

The successful candidate must have experience in the welder/metal fabrication industry, and be able to start immediately.

To be considered for this position, you must:

Have a minimum of 2 years full time work experience in this industry

Be able to work as a team and independently

Have completed Certificate III in Engineering or related course OR 3 years of work experience to replace qualification

Be able to fabricate from plans - Studying blueprints, technical drawings, weld symbols & specifications to determine job requirements and ensure accurate fabrication and assembly

Proficient in Word, Excel & Outlook

Be experienced in all aspects of welding and fabricating including MIG, TIG or stick welding on structural components like beams, frames and other metal parts

Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches & metal cutting machines

Be aware and comply with site W H & S requirements

Be able to inspect completed welds for defects ensuring structural integrity, and maintain a high level of accuracy and quality including examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision

Identify and resolve any welding or fabrication issues that may arise during the process

Be able to guide & train less experienced welders on proper techniques, procedures and safety practices

Have a solid work ethic

The following skills would be an advantage:

Experience in welding and metal fabricating within the construction industry

White Card

EWP Licence

Forklift Licence
