About the role

We have an exciting and rare opportunity available for a Library Volunteer Program Supervisor to manage the Volunteer Program on a permanent full-time basis.
Reporting to the Library Events & Programs Team Leader, you will join a professional and friendly team of experienced Library Community Engagement Officers who share the same passion of providing high quality library programs that meet community needs.
Your main responsibility will be to actively recruit, train and monitor our large group of volunteers, student placements and Duke of Edinburgh participants and empower them to have a positive impact on service delivery for our community.
About you
You will be highly organised and possess outstanding communication skills. You will have an understanding of the library industry and volunteer roles and be ready to deliver appropriate training and inspire our eager and highly valued group of volunteers.
Essential Criteria
Tertiary qualifications in Information Studies or Information and Knowledge Management or Volunteer Management or extensive equivalent industry experience.
Demonstrated experience in developing and managing a volunteer program.
Proven ability in the delivery of on-the job training.
Demonstrated ability to think laterally and develop creative solutions.
Demonstrated ability to work both as a team member and independently, with proven time management and organisational skills.
Demonstrated experience in developing, planning and managing events and programs for the community within a library or cultural institution.
An enthusiastic and engaging approach to providing excellent customer service.
Well-developed knowledge and skills in Library technology with the ability to assist customers in the use of such technology.
Competency in all MS office applications including word, Excel, Outlook and Publisher.
Current Working with Children check.
Demonstrated ability to undertake the physical requirements of the position as outlined in section Eight (8) of the position description.
Desirable Criteria
Current C Drivers Licence.
Willingness to obtain a Responsible Service of Alcohol competency.
Willingness to obtain a First Aid Certificate.
Qualifications in Training and Assessment.
