About the role
TAFE SA is seeking a dynamic Team Lead Applications – Development who will be responsible for leading a team of Developers and Database Analysts to ensure the effective development, maintenance and governance of TAFE SA’s critical information systems. This role provides strategic and operational leadership across projects and business-as-usual (BAU) activities, acting as the key point of coordination, escalation, and delivery. With a strong focus on people leadership, resource planning, and stakeholder engagement, the role ensures work is prioritised, delivered to schedule and budget, and aligned with data governance standards to support organisational objectives.
Key Skills
- Technical Leadership: Proven ability to guide development teams in delivering high-quality software solutions.
- Software Engineering Expertise: Strong proficiency in modern programming languages, frameworks, and development practices.
- Team Mentorship: Skilled in coaching developers, fostering growth, and building high-performing teams.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and translating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Problem Solving & Innovation: Ability to identify challenges, propose solutions, and drive technical innovation.
- Code Quality & Best Practices: Commitment to clean code, testing, and maintainable architecture.
- DevOps & CI/CD: Familiarity with deployment pipelines, automation tools, and cloud infrastructure.
Special Conditions
The successful applicant is required to demonstrate having a valid DHS Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to being employed. Applicants who do not hold a WWCC will need to apply at Department of Human Services (DHS).
- Out of hours work may be required
- Some intra/interstate travel and overnight absences may be required.
- Incumbent will be required to participate in the department’s Performance Development Program.
- Eligibility to work in Australia.
