About the role

At Novoschool, lunch is an important part of our program. Our school is growing, and so we need to grow our team. This part-time Chef position at Novoschool in Newcastle West, NSW presents an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing organisation in the hospitality industry. As a Chef, you will play a crucial role in preparing and delivering high-quality meals for the school community, contributing to the overall dining experience.

This role is Monday to Friday (school days only) with hours to be negotiated.

What you'll be doing

Preparing and cooking a variety of meals and menu items using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients

Ensuring all food preparation and cooking processes adhere to strict health and safety standards

Collaborating with the kitchen team to develop and implement new menu items and recipes

Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment

Providing excellent customer service to students, staff and visitors

Assisting with inventory management and ordering of food supplies

Working with young people, as they learn skills in the kitchen

What we're looking for

Relevant qualifications or experience as a Chef, preferably in a school or institutional setting

Strong skills in food preparation, cooking and presentation

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to food safety and hygiene

Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under pressure

Good communication and customer service skills

Familiarity with catering for diverse dietary requirements
