About Us:
The Department of Justice and Community Safety comprises of eight regions, through which compliance, enforcement and regulatory services are provided to the Victorian community.
The Loddon Mallee Region provides services for three prisons, two within the Loddon Prison and Middleton precinct which is comprised of a medium risk facility (Loddon) and a restricted minimum facility (Middleton) and Tarrengower Prison, which is a women's minimum risk facility located at Maldon. They also provide support through Justice Service Centres in Bendigo, Swan Hill, Echuca and Mildura and at outreach locations across the region, including Castlemaine, Maryborough, Kerang, Robinvale, Kyneton and Ouyen.
About the Role:
The Justice Officer - Prison Services provides a a combination of reception and concierge functions, and administrative and business support services. In a prison environment, the Justice Officer provides a range of corporate support services, within the unique operational environment of a correctional facility. In either environment, the role requires a strong focus on customer service, teamwork, integrity, accuracy, compliance and timeliness.
Some of your duties will include:
- Provide relief, support and assistance in a range of corporate service functions within the Region as required
- Coordinate staff movements, relevant to the location, in consultation with managers
- Coordinate, attend and provide administrative support for a range of events and meetings at various locations
- Prepare routine correspondence and reports as required
- Provide accurate advice and information to visitors in relation to services available at Prisons and Justice Service Centres in accordance with business processes
- Operate the switchboard including receiving and resolving enquiries and directing calls to the appropriate area
- Coordinate location mail including being responsible for the security and appropriate record keeping of incoming and outgoing mail as relevant
- Maintain accurate documentation relating to all functions and provide routine information and advice to staff, management, clients and stakeholders, in accordance with DJCS policies and procedures
- Review, monitor and update procedures and practices in relation to prisoner property and visitor enquiries.
About You:
As our ideal candidate, it would be advantageous for you to have:
- Well-developed computer literacy
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations
- Demonstrated experience and/or understanding of working within a correctional environment.
We are just looking for people with the right attitude. No experience is required as all training is provided upon commencement though reception or administration experience is preferable.
