The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking 6 x Senior Prison Officer's to provide a critical role at Hopkins Correctional Centre.

Hopkins Correctional Centre is a male medium-security facility, located in the Grampians Region.
As a Senior Prison Officer, you will take a lead role within custodial teams, coaching, mentoring and supporting Prison Officers. The role encompasses a range of teamwork, case management, custodial and security responsibilities.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of prisoner accommodation, be able to manage the day-to-day operations of a team of Prison Officers and the case management of more complex or difficult offenders. Offender management involves working in a team environment with other professionals to optimise the opportunities for rehabilitation through all aspects of the day-to-day routines, services and programs of the facility. You will model and reinforce positive behaviour and thinking within your team and with prisoners, to assist the individual prisoner's ability to change their behaviour and contribute in a positive manner to the community upon release
Some of your duties will include:
- Co-ordinate the day-to-day operations of a team of Prison Officers.
- Work with all members of the prison to ensure the safety and security of prisoners, staff and visitors. This includes maintenance of the integrity of both the external and internal security of the facility, appropriate levels of surveillance and interaction within the facility, and ensuring compliance with security and safety procedures.
- Manage a caseload of offenders, including more difficult and complex offenders, in accordance with the requirements of offender management practices, liaising with the various Clinical, Vocational, Personal Development and Reintegration Service staff, to meet the identified needs of offenders.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Ability to manage a caseload of offenders and liaise with various stakeholders to meet the identified needs of offenders, including knowledge and understanding of the Offender Management Framework.
- Ability to lead and co-ordinate a team of Prison Officers, including the performance management process and the delivery of training, coaching and support to Prison Officers.
- Knowledge and understanding of LOPs, DCIs, CRs and relevant legislation and their application in the custodial environment.
Qualifications/requirements
- Completion of Prison Officer Pre-Service Training.
- Completion of Certificate III Correctional Practice.
