Job title: Business Development Manager (Accounting Experience)

Location: Melbourne, Victoria 3000 or Sydney, NSW 2000

Job summary:

Looking for a Business Development leader with hands-on accounting experience - or an accounting professional ready to transition into a client-facing role in business development or relationship management

We need a proactive Business Development professional who knows or keen to transition on how to build and grow client relationships - with a solid, practical background in accounting. You’ll work closely with accounting practice managers and partners, using your deep financial insight to identify opportunities, manage key accounts, and drive commercial growth in the insurance sector.

Key responsibilities:

Lead the Tax Audit Insurance (TAI) team, driving excellence and ensuring high performance across all team activities.

Manage TAI business operations in a hands-on manner, focusing on sales growth, client retention and profitability.

Liaise with the Marketing Manager to drive new business acquisition.

Manage the new client onboarding program and the existing client renewal program.

Nurture client relationships, ensuring continued satisfaction and promoting long-term partnerships.

Oversee the Tax Audit software program and ensure continuous improvements.

About you:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.

Self-starter with a proactive approach, able to work with minimal supervision.

Strong decision maker with the ability to prioritise and adapt to changing demands.

Excellent project management skills with a proven ability to deliver results.

Ability to manage and develop employees in a dynamic start-up environment.

Presentable, confident, and professional, as the role will require you to liaise with senior clients.

Analytical problem solver.

Enthusiastic about business growth and business development.

Required experience:

Experienced accountant with a business development or operational management mindset.

Strong background in managing new and existing client relationships.

Previous experience in managing a team.

Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint and especially Excel), with an understanding of the IT development process.

Experience with client education, media content creation and marketing support.

Familiarity with the tax environment and related legislation and issues.

Preferred experience (not essential):

Previous people management experience.

Business, finance or accounting degree.

Familiarity with accounting practice management software.
