The City of Wanneroo is seeking an experienced Coordinator Risk & Assurance to lead and manage the City’s Risk and Assurance Sub-Service unit.

You will provide strategic guidance to the General Counsel and Manager Corporate Governance and Council Services on Risk and Assurance matters.

This role requires a highly skilled individual with the ability to work collaboratively in creating and maintaining robust, systematic processes that simplifies, reduces re-work and risk for the organisation. This position will be required to proactively monitor the risk environment and industry trends and subsequently lead the development and improvement in the Council decision making process and present proposed strategies to the Manager Corporate Governance and Council Services.

About the Role
This position reports directly to Manager Corporate Governance & Risk with three direct reports, Senior Risk & Assurance Administration Officer, Risk & Insurance Officer and Risk & Assurance Administration Officer. This role provides leadership; thinks strategically and manages change; engages stakeholders and customers; efficient and effective in delivery; manages their teams resources, governance, compliance and risk.

About You
We are looking for a proactive and adaptable individual who thrives in both collaborative team environments and when working independently. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
To be successful in this role, you will need to outline your skills and experience against the following criteria:

Qualifications, Requirements and Experience:

  • Certified Practicing Risk Manager (CPRM) qualification or similar enabling acceptance as a member of the Risk Management Institute of Australia (RMIA).
  • Significant experience in a similar role within a large and complex organisation.
  • Significant experience in stakeholder engagement and consultation.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Advanced communication skills, including, written, verbal and public speaking.
  • Highly skilled in developing and maintaining a positive and productive culture.
  • Proven track record achieving business goals and strategy and creating a shared culture of commitment for the team and key stakeholders.
  • Highly skilled in managing individual performance.
  • Advanced negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of occupational health and safety measures in the workplace, including risk assessment and control implementation.
