Funeral Directors Assistant / Mortuary Assistant
The role of a Funeral Assistant is vitally important to ensure the professionalism and high-quality standard that Alex Gow Funerals takes pride in delivering to the families and communities of Brisbane. This opportunity allows you to work with a passionate and multi-skilled team of professionals that embrace the funeral service industry.
Although no previous industry experience is needed, the successful applicant will require:
- Skills in people/relationship management.
- Be a sensible, good natured person with a high level of fitness and able to work in a team environment.
- Have excellent written and oral communication skills, especially with the elderly members of the community.
- Ability to prioritise and work well under pressure.
- The ability to work professionally with a wide variety of people and cultures, showing respect and empathy.
- Be outcome focused.
- Excellent attention to detail.
The role involves:
- Setting up for the funeral services at a variety of venues.
- Providing support to our Funeral Arrangers and assisting them before, during and after the funeral service as required.
- Provide mortuary assistance.
- Learning to prepare the deceased.
- Helping to dress and casket deceased.
- Providing a transfer service for the deceased, from home or hospital, through to our client's care (including after hours and weekends).
- Trimming and preparing caskets.
- Cleaning of Premises including Vacuuming, Sanitising & Mopping.
- Maintenance of Grounds and Building.
- Assist with detailing company hearses and transfer vehicles for a first class presentation.
- General assistance around the funeral home.
This job includes working on an after-hours roster - approx 1 week in every 3 or 4 including weekends and public holidays.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo our pre-employment process, which includes a Police Check, and a full Medical Disclosure.
The position is based in Geebung, Brisbane.
This is a FULL-TIME position.
