Quality & Risk Officer – 12 Months Maternity Leave Cover
Kalgoorlie Based
GIFSA currently has a vacancy for a suitably experienced Quality and Risk Officer for a 12-month maternity leave contract in our Kalgoorlie office.
About the opportunity
GIFSA is seeking a proactive Quality & Risk Officer (QRO) to support the implementation and monitoring of quality standards, risk management practices, and continuous improvement across the organisation. The QRO will evaluate the effectiveness of policies, procedures, and service delivery, including responses to incidents, complaints, and restrictive practices. This role also involves reviewing risk documentation and supporting teams to apply best practice standards. Working collaboratively across all departments, the QRO ensures GIFSA maintains the highest standards of quality and safety for all stakeholders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Objectives
• Ensure organizational compliance to legislative and regulatory requirements as well as disability and other applicable standards through independent verification of evidence of practice.
• Reduce risks through the monitoring and reporting on risk minimization actions and strategies.
• Ensure incident and complaint management meets agreed standards.
• Identify opportunities to minimize risks, reduce incidents and complaints.
• Ensure investigations are completed professionally and in a timely manner.
• Maintain and improve quality management systems and service quality by completing services, organizational, systems and compliance audits.
• Assist in achieving quality assurance operational objectives by contributing to information analysis.
• Identify and report on continuous improvement processes and assist in implementing improvements.
• Develop quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses and monitoring procedures and implementing risk management principles and practices.
• Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
Reporting
• Analyse data from various sources and provide information to support management excellence and continuous improvement.
• Analyse outcomes of internal and external monitoring and measuring activities.
• Monitor and report on the timely resolution of incidents and complaints, the effective treatment of risks and actions taken in response to risks, incidents and issues.
Policy implementation
• Liaise with appropriate staff to ensure new and revised policies are implemented correctly.
• Contribute to the development of training materials and webinars on new and revised policy directions.
• Contribute to the shared learning of the GIFSA team.
Other Duties
• Carry out duties in accordance with Equal Opportunity legislation and GIFSA’s Code of Conduct.
• Adhere to GIFSA’s policies and management practices.
• Apply and promote a safe work environment for yourself and others.
• Report all hazards, incidents, accidents and near misses to your Coordinator / Manager.
• All other duties as directed by your Coordinator / Manager.
Desirable Selection Criteria
Graduate Certificate or higher in an appropriate field of study
Demonstrated experience in the organizational quality and risk management and analysis
Current knowledge and commitment to the principles of Equal Opportunity in all aspects of employment and service delivery
Current knowledge of NDIS standards, quality indicators, NDIS Quality & Safeguards Practice Standards, Reportable Incidents Scheme, and relevant legislation
