Osborne Richardson continue to bring exceptional Compliance and Community Enforcement roles to the market all over Australia and we are incredibly excited about a great Local Laws Officer role in one of Eastern Melbourne's local councils. This fantastic opportunity will run for 2-3 months, with huge potential to extend beyond this.

As a Local Laws Officer, duties will include:

• Administering and enforcing a range of Acts and Regulations including but not limited to:
  o The Local Law
  o Animal Management
  o Parking Control
  o School Crossing Supervisor Activities
  o Nuisance related issues
  o Litter
  o Fire Prevention
  o Planning compliance
• Providing clear and concise advice/guidance to all stakeholders in relation to the relevant Acts and any other Council policies.
• Achieving positive compliance outcomes using thorough, effective and efficient investigation techniques.
• Progressing compliance matters to enforcement where necessary.
• Assisting the Council animal pound as and when required.
• Working outside of normal hours on a rostered basis and as required.

To excel in this role, we are looking for people with:

• A Certificate IV in Statutory Compliance/Animal Management OR extensive demonstrated experience in the role.
• Extensive experience in interpreting and enforcing relevant legislation/industry standards including relevant policies, procedures and directives.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively and appropriately respond to challenging situations with the ability to successfully negotiate and achieve successful outcomes.
• Ability to conduct interviews, investigate breaches and develop briefs for consideration.
• Holds a driver’s licence valid in Victoria.
