We are offering a fantastic opportunity to join a great local council in South-West Melbourne, as a Planning Investigations Officer. Commencing ASAP, this contract will initially run for 2 months, with huge potential to be extended beyond this.

Sitting within the City Amenity and Safety team, you will ensure that all forms of land use and development within the municipality are in accordance
with the Planning Scheme, Planning Permits, and associated legislation through appropriate education and enforcement.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

• Liaising with and advising the public and ratepayers of Council's planning requirements
• Issuing planning infringement notices in accordance with Council’s Planning Enforcement Policy
• Undertaking inspections of developments to determine compliance with planning permits
• Undertaking follow up actions to ensure infringement notices have been paid and additional measures required to achieve compliance have been carried out
• Responding to written and verbal enquiries on land use development, policy and statutory requirements regarding planning matters

Essential skills and knowledge required:

• Knowledge of town planning processes and procedures relating to Planning Permits and Planning Scheme provisions
• Knowledge of Planning and Environment Act and other relevant Acts and Regulations
• Experience in statutory investigation or other enforcement duties
• Knowledge of the Victorian Planning Scheme, related Acts, and legislation
• Ability to present evidence and give testimony in a Court, Tribunal, or other judicial setting
