Job Description :
Join a high-performing People & Culture team as a senior ER specialist providing expert advice on complex employee relations matters. You’ll lead investigations, support performance management and dispute resolution, and help shape policies that foster a positive and compliant workplace culture. This role involves liaising with a range of stakeholders, managing sensitive issues, and contributing to strategic HR initiatives across the organisation. Ideal for someone adaptable, collaborative, and solution-focused with strong ER experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and lead complex HR casework relating to misconduct, inappropriate behaviour, and underperformance.
- Conduct or support investigations with a focus on fairness, compliance, and procedural integrity.
- Coach and support managers in people management and early intervention strategies.
- Contribute to policy development, best practice guidance, and strategic HR uplift.
- Deliver training sessions to improve workplace behaviour and culture awareness.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across the People and Culture Branch and the wider ACT Government.
- Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity when managing workplace issues and investigations.
About You We’re looking for a values-driven HR practitioner who thrives in complex, high-stakes environments and is confident advising senior leaders. You’ll bring:
- Strong experience in employee relations, particularly in misconduct and performance management.
- Sound understanding of public sector HR policy, procedure, and enterprise agreements.
- High-level communication, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to balance operational delivery with strategic thinking.
- Resilience, emotional intelligence, and discretion.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- ACT Public Service or broader public sector experience in a similar employee relations or HR case management role.
- Familiarity with ACT Government policies including the Misconduct and Behaviours Policy and Resolving a Workplace Issue Policy.
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management (or currently undertaking study).
