The Quality and Safety Officer is responsible for leading Quality Assurance, Occupational Health and Safety, and maintaining and managing Risk Control measures in the workplace. To oversee and improving the company’s Quality, Environmental, and Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems (QMS, EMS, and OHSMS) in compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and WorkSafe Victoria requirements. This role ensures that products, processes, and workplace environments consistently meet regulatory standards and internal benchmarks, particularly in the production of security, fire-rated, and acoustic door sets.
MAIN TASKS
Core objectives include:
Quality Assurance:
Ensure quality assurance throughout the production process by both carrying out and training employees/contractors on ITP’s in collaboration with respective departmental team leads (ITP - Assist with door, frame and hardware certification).
Work towards, maintain and continually improve reporting, processes, and adherence to the requirements set out by the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
Conduct regular internal audits, root cause analyses, and corrective action tracking.
Oversee quality control processes and support production teams with quality inspections and documentation.
Coordinate third-party audits and certification processes.
Health & Safety (OHS):
Ensure compliance with ISO 45001 and WorkSafe Victoria standards.
Work towards, maintain and continually improve reporting, processes, and adherence to the requirements set out by the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
Develop, implement, and record workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations. Ensure reports are recorded and filed as required and that corrective actions are implemented and follow up audits are conducted to ensure effectiveness.
Lead and coordinate safety training, toolbox talks (in collaboration with Team Leads), and employee inductions.
3. Environmental Management:
Work towards, maintain and continually improve reporting, processes, and adherence to the requirements set out by the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
Monitor environmental impact, including waste management, emissions, and energy use.
Maintain environmental documentation and implement sustainability initiatives.
4. Compliance & Reporting:
Prepare and present reports on quality, safety, and environmental performance.
Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards related to fire and security doors.
Maintain up-to-date records of licenses, permits, and certifications.
Continuous Improvement:
Work with Production Manager and Operations Manager to identify areas for improvement across systems and processes.
Promote a culture of quality and safety within the organization.
Work cross-functionally to support Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma initiatives.

Other Duties
Fulfil other duties as required by management and other department personnel as requested/required.
Work in collaboration with Project Managers to receive market feedback to continuously improve quality standards to meet market demands.

3 to 5 years related experience
OHS and Quality Control Qualification or similar would be preferred
