The Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Officer to support our production team in maintaining compliance with food safety standards and continuous quality improvement. You’ll work closely with the operations and R&D teams to uphold best practices in food safety, hygiene, documentation, and product integrity.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a small team environment and has a practical understanding of food safety systems in a production setting.
Key Responsibilities
· - Conduct in-process quality checks during chocolate and powder production
· - Maintain and update QA documentation (HACCP, GMP, allergen management, traceability, etc.)
· - Support ongoing compliance with FSANZ standards, HACCP, and SQF (or equivalent)
· - Conduct raw material and finished product inspections, testing, and sampling
· - Monitor sanitation, pest control, temperature logs, and calibration checks
· - Report deviations, assist in root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions
· - Assist in preparing for internal and external audits
· - Collaborate with production staff to embed quality culture on the floor
Skills & Experience
· - Qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or similar field (TAFE or university)
· - 2+ years of QA/QC experience in a food manufacturing environment (chocolate or dry goods preferred)
· - Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, allergen control, and food safety regulatory standards
· - Strong attention to detail with solid documentation and record-keeping skills
· - Comfortable working on the production floor and liaising with operations staff
· - Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· - Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic QA software/tools
Nice to Have (Not Essential)
· - Experience with chocolate processing, tempering, or cocoa-based products
· - Familiarity with dry blending, powder filling, or packing line QA
· - Previous exposure to SQF, BRC, or similar certification systems
· - Understanding of export compliance and shelf-life testing
