Are you a speech pathology or occupational therapy student looking for some real-world experience? Are you loving learning, but want to get more hands-on? Did your paediatric placement end way too soon? Do you want to find out how a private practice really operates before you graduate? Munchkin Allied Health is seeking an Allied Health Assistant to join our multidisciplinary team. Part-time and casual roles available.

About us:

Munchkin Allied Health is a small allied health clinic providing Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy services to Melbourne's northern suburbs. We are a multidisciplinary team consisting of four speech pathologists, an occupational therapist, two allied health assistants, and an administrative assistant. We pride ourselves on our welcoming, inclusive, and supportive attitudes. Our team genuinely likes to spend time with each other, so we have quarterly team outings and regular team lunches.

We believe that children and families work best when they feel safe and supported. We aim to provide evidence-based neuroaffirmative therapy that promotes and celebrates neurodiversity.

At Munchkin, we know supporting families starts with supporting our staff, so we provide regular supervision, detailed session plans and plenty of time to ask questions. We love working with OT and speech pathology students, and we’re proud of the support we offer. Don’t just take our word for it—half of our current team started here as students! We'd love to hear from you if you're looking for a place where you’ll be supported, valued, and given room to grow.

About the role:

Work within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Deliver evidence-based, neuroaffirmative therapy to children aged 2 - 18 years.

Build strong working relationships with clients, caregivers and their families.

Support families as they move through the therapeutic journey, including accessing funding and receiving a diagnosis.

Contribute to a safe, happy and empowering environment for children to learn and grow.

Be part of a team committed to building each other up, respecting one another and learning and laughing together.

Skills and Experience

Currently studying a speech pathology or occupational therapy degree.

WWCC and National Police Check.

Driver's Licence and access to own vehicle.

Willingness to learn about neuroaffirmative therapy.

Australian working rights required.

Benefits

Start your networking journey early, spending time with real clinicians and hearing their tips and advice for workplace success.

Get a head start in the industry, building experience before you even graduate.

Learn effective clinical skills and behaviour management techniques during weekly supervision from experienced clinicians.

Take advantage of the opportunity to observe other clinicians at work and learn about other disciplines.

Learn about what works for you in a workplace and what you need to succeed.

Get to know your client base as a student; most of our allied health assistants keep their caseload when they graduate.

Emmerse yourself in a positive team environment with quarterly team outings, frequent team lunches and lots of cake!

How to Apply

We are very excited to find a new addition to our team. Please forward your cover letter and resume to [email protected]. If you have any questions about the role, please contact Jake via email or call the clinic on 03 9875 8222. We look forward to hearing from you!
