About the role

The Policy and Advocacy team is looking for a part-time Administrative Assistant to manage our administrative tasks, enabling us to focus on advocating for the rights and wellbeing of carers. This role will be in-office during business hours with mid-week availability preferred. Reporting to the Senior Lead Policy and Advocacy and the Chief Stakeholder Engagement Officer, the successful candidate will work closely with all members of the Policy and Advocacy team, as well as colleagues in the Communications and Engagement team.

This is a dynamic and agile role involving a variety of administrative tasks, including diary and meeting management, uploading submissions and correspondence, recording and maintaining data, and contributing to communication and engagement activities. Our team is responsive to advocacy, stakeholder, training and development opportunities, and the Administrative Assistant will support in the identification and organisation of these by monitoring inboxes and relevant websites, assisting with financial management and reporting, booking accommodation and travel as required. This will be an interesting and rewarding role where we can promise that no two days will be the same. You will build and practice a wide range of skills in a supportive and purpose-driven environment while contributing to work that makes a real difference in the lives of unpaid carers across the ACT.

Responsibilities

As the Administrative Assistant for the Policy and Advocacy team, you will require strong organisation, IT and communication skills. You will be efficient, patient, self-directed and good at prioritising, but also curious and flexible. As our work crosses a diverse range of topics, the team is constantly learning but also supporting each other as we manage some of the more challenging topics. Our Administrative Assistant will need to be comfortable being part of a team that is analytical and strategic, and that enjoys robust discussion. An interest in local issues and politics would be an advantage.

A valid Working with Vulnerable People check and NDIS Workers Screening Module.
