This is a pool recruitment process (Pool Ref LPB024-LPB025). The pool will run for a period of twelve (12) months and may be used to fill similar vacancies on a fixed term, acting or permanent basis at the Legal Practice Board.
There is currently one (1) permanent full time opportunity available for immediate filling as well as opportunity for appointment of at least one (1) full time position on a fixed term basis. Fixed term appointments will be made with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.
The Board is a statutory body, responsible for the regulation of legal services and lawyers in Western Australia.
The Board aims to be a leader in the area of regulation and we pride ourselves on working with our stakeholders to ensure we have an engaged, active, competent, and ethical legal profession.
About the role
Reporting to the Director Investigations and Legal, the Principal Lawyer provides a comprehensive investigative and legal service to the Board. You will lead investigations of complex matters including dispute resolution and prosecution or litigation of civil or criminal matters, including the supervision of more junior lawyers and investigators, paralegals, and administrative staff.
The successsful applicant will also conduct complex matters in tribunals and courts and provide high level advice and reports to senior management and members of the Board.
