Are you ready to step into a leadership role where your hands-on skills and civil maintenance experience can shine? As part of our City Infrastructure team, you’ll take on a dynamic Leading Hand position, overseeing a range of maintenance works including footpaths, kerb and gutter, road repairs, drainage, and concreting.
You’ll be responsible for guiding a team on-site, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Your leadership and organisational skills will be key in managing resources, supporting your crew, and delivering quality outcomes for the community.
This exciting role will:
Ensure all works are carried out safely and in line with WHS legislation and Council standards
Deliver high-quality maintenance outcomes across a variety of civil infrastructure assets
Lead and mentor your team, providing on-the-job training and identifying development opportunities
Manage the use of Council and contractor plant and labour to maximise efficiency and environmental safety
Coordinate contractor and material needs, raise purchase requisitions, and approve timesheets and invoices
Report and respond to site issues, ensuring timely and effective resolutions
LET’S HEAR ABOUT YOU
You hold a School Certificate or relevant qualification in Civil Works, or have extensive hands-on experience in the field
You have a current NSW Construction Induction Card and a Class MR Driver’s Licence
You’re a natural leader with experience supervising teams and delivering successful outcomes
You’re committed to quality, safety, and continuous improvement
You have strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with staff, customers, and suppliers
You’re confident operating civil plant and interpreting plans for works
Your background in Civil Maintenance or Construction sets you apart as a capable and reliable team leader

This position provides:
Competitive salary from $37.60 to $43.70 per hour
12 per cent superannuation
Enterprise Agreement pay increases apply
Commencing salary set in line with skills and experience with annual reviews available to support movement through the salary range
35-hour working week, 4-day week as part of a flexible work trial
