About the role
This is a full-time, fixed-term contract or secondment position (12-month duration) within the Recycled Water Operations team at East Gippsland Water.
The Coordinator leads a skilled team in the safe operation and maintenance of recycled water plants, ensuring high-quality output and compliance with EPA standards. The role oversees facilities across the Mitchell District, providing technical guidance and consistent system application. It also embeds Environmental Management System (EMS) requirements into daily operations and drives continuous improvement. Additionally, the Coordinator manages performance and optimisation programs for all recycled water plants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee safe, efficient operation of Mitchell District Recycled Water Treatment Plants, ensuring compliance with EPA licences and water quality standards.
- Manage incidents and emergency responses related to treatment alarms and water quality.
- Monitor plant performance, investigate issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate and support maintenance activities, including general and specialist tasks.
- Assist with EPA Annual Performance Statement by validating and submitting required data.
- Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies.
- Integrate EGW’s Risk Management and EMS requirements into daily operations.
- Assess asset condition to inform capital planning and support minor project delivery.
- Maintain accurate asset records and contribute to asset management system improvements.
- Provide operational advice, support financial planning, and manage allocated resources.
- Ensure accurate documentation via EGW’s Record Management System.
- Handle queries with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Mentor and train team members and staff as required.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
- Demonstrated sound technical knowledge and experience in the operations and maintenance of recycled water treatment systems.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills combined with good verbal, written and technological skills, ensuring the ability to work effectively with people at all organisational levels.
- Effective project management skills, including management of contractors and the ability to meet work targets and deadlines within budget.
- A proven track record in effectively managing the performance of a team to ensure quality outcomes.
- A pro-active approach to asset management.
- A positive attitude towards personal development including being accountable, innovative, passionate and united to achieve corporate objectives.
