The Role
As the Systems Administrator for the Australian Army Cadets (AAC), you will be responsible for leading ICT support services across Australia under the strategic guidance of the ICT Manager.
About our Team
The Australian Army Cadets (AAC) is Army’s premier youth development and community engagement program. The AAC has 9 regional headquarters and over 250 Army Cadet Units across Australia and Norfolk Island, manned with over 20,000 cadets and over 1,600 Officer of Cadets and Defence Approved Helper volunteers.
This is all managed and coordinated by Headquarters Australian Army Cadets (HQ AAC), which is divided into the following branches:
- Personnel Branch
- Operations / Logistics Branch
- Policy Branch
- ICT Branch
- Training Branch
- Command Activities Branch
ICT Branch is responsible for managing and providing the delivery of ICT support services across the Australian Army Cadet Program. ICT Branch also has strong engagement with Joint Support Services Division (JSSD), Australian Navy Cadets Directorate (ANCD) and Cadets Branch – Air Force (CB-AF) ICT Teams to co-ordinate tri-service ICT support and solutions for the cadet organisations; in addition to working with the other HQ AAC branches to ensure ICT services are fit for purpose.
ICT Branch is led by the EL1 ICT Manager and comprises the APS 6 Systems Administrator as well as a network of Officer of Cadet volunteers split into two teams:
- ICT Support – providing hardware/broadband support.
- CadetNet Support – providing support on the Defence CadetNet system.
Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the position will:
- Be able to engage and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders and contractors.
- Deliver ICT support to people with varying digital literacy skills from around the country.
- Be a self-starter to find issues and identify suitable resolutions to problems.
- Have experience coordinating ICT Support Services with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Have experience developing resources to support a wide range of stakeholders.
Please note that the candidate may be expected to travel and work from different Defence locations to support AAC activities and training as required.
