Key Responsibilities:

Prepare detailed estimates for structural steel projects, including material, labour, and equipment costs.

Review and analyse project drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine the scope of work.

Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, and subcontractors to ensure accurate bid preparation.

Evaluate and select suppliers and subcontractors for material procurement and speciality work.

Provide assistance to project management team to procure materials from suppliers.

Develop and maintain estimating databases, ensuring they are up to date with current market trends and material costs.

Conduct site visits as needed to assess project requirements and verify estimates.

Prepare and submit bids to clients, ensuring timely and accurate completion.

Assess and calculate labour, material, and equipment quantities, as well as subcontractor costs.

Work within tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Track and monitor project costs throughout the duration of the project.

Participate in pre-bid and post-bid meetings with clients and other stakeholders.

Provide technical assistance to the project management team as required.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Structural Steel Estimator or in a similar role within the construction or steel fabrication industry.

Strong knowledge of structural steel, construction practices, materials, and processes.

Proficient in using estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, or similar tools).

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation.

Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Strong organisational and time management skills.

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
