Position Overview

We’re seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Cafe manager to lead our retail team at Black Market Coffee Thirroul. This is a fast paced joint and requires our A Team to deliver on our brand promise to deal positivity, everyday. In this role, you will provide expert training and mentorship to staff and be the face of our busienss in thirorul. You will work barista shifts and coordinate the daily ops required of a cafe manager to a high level.

Management Skills

Ability to express knowledge on coffee flavours and profiles

Make coffee and bean recommendations to customers

Key Responsibilities

On Bar Shifts

Perform quality FOH and BOH shifts as needed, executing the SOPs to a high level

Plan and conduct engaging and informative training sessions for staff so they can perform the SOPs

Complete the admin tasks of rostering, finance and stock control

Mentoring and Support

Provide ongoing mentorship and guidance to staff, addressing their specific challenges and helping them develop their skills.

Foster a supportive and encouraging learning environment, promoting growth and confidence in coffee preparation.

Event Coordination

We love to host events to promote the hospo industry and its positive vibes. You will be an active player in this

Marketing

Particiapte in content shoots and provide feedback on the brand

Work with the ops manager to develop new business in the neighbourhood

Customer Interaction

Demonstrate excellent customer service and professional interaction during shifts.

Address any feedback or questions from staff with professionalism and expertise.

Operational Support

Support the development of internal training initiatives and contribute to overall team development.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a specialty coffee barista with a strong grasp of coffee preparation and customer service.

Experience in training or educational roles is highly desirable.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to tailor training to different skill levels and needs.

Passion for coffee and a commitment to sharing knowledge with others.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 12kg ( a box of coffee or crate of milk).

Capable of managing the physical demands associated with training sessions and café environments.
