We're seeking a talented Emergency Management Team Leader to ensure preparedness and support during critical events, meeting the everyday needs of the community while being fully equipped to respond effectively in times of crisis.

What you'll do:
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Council's emergency management functions, including preparedness, response, recovery, and fire prevention, ensuring alignment with statutory obligations and legislative requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and review municipal emergency management plans and procedures, ensuring they reflect current risks, community needs, and legislative standards.
- Coordinate key activities in preparation and response to fire prevention and compliance.
- Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and responsive working environment within the emergency management unit.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships - across Council and with partners and the community.
What you'll bring/what we are looking for
- Tertiary qualifications in Emergency Management, Public Safety or Community Safety and/or extensive experience relevant to Emergency Management.
- A thorough understanding of emergency management legislation, frameworks, and best practices, with the capability to develop, implement, and review emergency management plans, policies, and procedures.
- Management and leadership skills and the ability to coach, motivate and influence, including manage staff during emergency response activities.
- Ability to work collaboratively and develop stakeholder engagement, whilst maintaining strong relationships with government agencies, emergency services, and community stakeholders, as well as supporting community consultation and engagement efforts.
- Strong project management skills with experience in managing complex priorities and timelines.
- Ability to undertake the role of Municipal Emergency Management Officer as the delegate for Council.

- Current Victorian Drivers Licence
- Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check
- Current Working with Children's Check
In this position the incumbent will be required to be available for on-call duties and respond to emergency situations as required, supporting Council's operational response.
We offer:
- Permanent, full-time position with a monthly Rostered Day Off (RDO).
- Salary from $105,724.83 to $117,953.20 per annum plus super (on call allowance paid in addition as required).
- 18 weeks of paid parental leave - primary carer/2 weeks of paid parental leave – partner.
