The Role

As an Accommodation and Initial Support Program Manager, you will lead housing and settlement services for newly arrived humanitarian entrants. You will oversee strategic housing initiatives, collaborate with key stakeholders, and manage a high-performing team to ensure clients receive essential support.

This is a full-time position based in Brisbane, with travel across regional Queensland.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Strategic thinking across the humanitarian settlement space including working with newly arrived communities and community leaders to identify gaps and development effective responses and solutions to achieve settlement goals;

Lead and mentor team members across two service delivery areas – Accommodation and Welcome and Initial Support Services - in the delivery of high quality, agile and culturally appropriate support to newly arrived clients;

Lead the strategic development and expansion of short-term and long term housing options by proactively identifying opportunities, negotiating arrangements, and cultivating strong, sustainable relationships with real estate agents, property managers, and developers to meet organizational housing needs.

Oversee the coordination of airport arrivals and essential appointments for clients to achieve settlement goals and milestones;

Supervise, mentor and support individuals and teams to achieve goals, drive performance and identify professional development requirements;

Manage delivery of contractual Performance Indicators across service delivery areas and ensure team activities comply with Multicultural Australia and program specific contractual, audit and service standard requirements;

Responsibly manage budget and resources, including develop projections, workload management and reporting;

Support continuous improvement of the program through process and operational reviews;

Commitment to work rotational rosters on Multicultural Australia’s emergency phone including after hours, weekends and public holidays.

Qualifications and Skills required:

1. Minimum of four years’ experience in management and leadership roles including proven experience in providing supervision and support to a multi-disciplinary team of workers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in a dynamic client-centred environment.

2. Demonstrated experience in the housing sector, including well-established networks and strong working relationships with real estate agents, property managers, and developers. Proven ability to navigate housing challenges with a solution-focused approach, leveraging sector knowledge and partnerships to secure appropriate and timely housing outcomes.

3. Strong knowledge of logistics and service coordination within a client-focused environment, with the ability to manage competing priorities, ensure timely delivery of support, and adapt processes to meet individual client needs efficiently and effectively.

4. Demonstrated dynamic relationship-building skills and ability to maximize stakeholder relationships both within Multicultural Australia as well as externally within partner and government organizations to ensure strong collaboration in delivering services for complex needs.

5. Highly demonstrated strong decision-making and prioritising skills to balance organisational objectives and contribute to shared agendas across a diverse range of programs and stakeholders.

6. Demonstrated experience in effectively leading teams towards achieving Key Performance Indicators and taking ownership of their responsibilities and contribution to attainment of these KPI targets.

7. Demonstrated knowledge, and ability in complying with funding requirements and delivering reports of a high standard, including high level written and oral communication skills.

8. Demonstrated capacity and willingness to convene meetings, deliver workshops and training, as well as engage in consultation processes involving a range of stakeholders.

9. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills including report writing and working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications;

Additional Desirable Skills:

Experience in or passion to work within and build knowledge of the multicultural sector supporting refugees, asylum seekers and other newly arrived Queenslanders;

Written and verbal communication skills in a language other than English

Passion and commitment to providing capacity building to individuals and teams in a friendly and participatory style;

Demonstrate innovative thinking and change management skills;

Ability to shape, contribute to and foster Multicultural Australia’s organisational culture;
