Crumpler is a privately owned designer, manufacturer and retailer of bags and outerwear with a small modern factory and studio based in Melbourne's CBD, along with a network of five retail stores around the country. We make a best-selling product in Melbourne that is sold all over the world.

With the five stores around Australia and a period of steady growth on the horizon, we’re looking for an experienced National Retail Manager to join us at our ‘Bag House’ HQ in Melbourne and help elevate our retail operations across the board. Our current systems and processes do the job, but we’re looking for someone to take them to the next level with bucketloads of energy, structure, and hands-on experience.

You’d be working closely with our store, warehouse, ecommerce, design and brand teams to ensure Crumpler stores are running smoothly, looking great, and expressing our brand powerfully at every opportunity. From how our team handles a product return, to how we light a new product display, we want the Crumpler personality to shine through brightly.

We’d look for you to have strong opinions and experience when it comes to customer experience, visual merchandising, in-store campaign rollout, staff management, performance tracking, and stock coordination. You’d bring practical know-how and the kind of attention to detail that makes things work more smoothly with each day.

You’d be involved in the full spectrum of retail work: from checking in on stores, to strategic planning with the directors on budgeting, resourcing, and performance. You’d support store staff through recruitment, onboarding, and training.

We want every customer walking into a Crumpler store to feel like they’ve stepped into a slightly more fun and playful world. You’ll help shape that experience through encouraging a positive and energetic team culture, and purposeful store presentation.

You’d also oversee our local store marketing program where we have allocated each store manager a monthly budget to spend how they see fit, supporting local events and communities.

You’ll spend time in our stores around the country, staying close to the shop floor, your teams, and making sure things are working in the real world.

Experience with retail systems (ie. POS, rostering, and inventory platforms) would be useful as we refine and standardise our internal tools. We currently use Shopify POS and Deputy.

Ultimately you would help us define what retail should look like for Crumpler - not just for now, but for the future. You’d help shape a company handbook that sets the standard as we improve our existing stores and eventually open new ones locally and internationally.

The job would suit someone with a deeply practical in-store background, strong managerial abilities, and experience handling a network of multiple stores.

This is a full-time role based in Melbourne with regular travel required.
