SeaO2 (www.seao2nanno.com.au) have built a world class facility to produce and process Nannochloropsis microalgae – a new “superfood” – in Woodburn, NSW.

Tasks & responsibilities

Lead a small team to deliver production and continuous improvement goals.

Manage processing operations to complying with relevant regulatory standards and legislative requirements (e.g. HACCP, TGA, GMP etc).

Ensure production and cleaning records are maintained from processing to finished goods, including quality checks to meet product specifications.

Co-ordinate procurement of raw materials, third party services, and finished product logistics to align with production scheduling (maintaining inventory management and traceability).

Schedule the maintenance of plant and equipment.

Be flexible, willing to roll-up-sleeves and help wherever is necessary.

Train and develop staff; acknowledging that microalgae experience is rare.

Ensure a safe working environment and OHS compliance.

Qualifications & experience

Tertiary education in engineering or science, or equivalent level of experience.

Strong organisational / planning skills.

Demonstrated ability to solve problems and make decisions independently, knowing when to “make the captain’s call” and when to seek the input of others.

Practiced people leadership and communication skills.

Comfortable managing COGs and performing basic financial analysis.

Proficiency with MS applications, and comfortable with a largely automated / PLC controlled site.

(Microalgae experience is not essential. Experience in food processing or other analogous quality-controlled industry is adequate)
