About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Part-Time Chef to join our warm and dedicated team. This role is responsible for planning and preparing nutritious meals and snacks for up to 66 children per day, ensuring all food served meets the Caring for Children guidelines and individual dietary requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and prepare a 4-meal daily menu: morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and late snack

Create seasonal menus (spring, summer, autumn, winter) aligned with nutritional guidelines and centre policies

Cater for children with allergies, intolerances, cultural/religious needs, and specific dietary requirements

Maintain a clean, hygienic, and safe kitchen environment in line with food safety standards

Order ingredients, manage stock levels, and work within a food budget

Collaborate with the leadership team on menu planning and family feedback

Support sustainability initiatives (e.g. composting, reducing food waste, using the garden produce)

Maintain required food safety records and assist during health inspections and audits

Engage positively with staff, children, and families as part of our welcoming community

What We’re Looking For

Certificate in Commercial Cookery or equivalent (highly regarded)

Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

Previous experience working in a childcare, school, or similar environment preferred

Knowledge of the Caring for Children Birth to 5 Years nutrition guidelines

Understanding of food allergies and anaphylaxis procedures

Strong organisation, time management, and cleanliness

A passion for cooking with love and nourishing young children
