Our independent friendly general medical practice seeks a motivated, energetic, well-spoken and organised receptionist to join our team for the long term.

The position is for a minimum of 4 full weekdays between Mon and Fri

8.15am to 6.15pm ( one hour lunch break ) for the 4 full days

with an additional day/half day negotiable for the suitable candidate.

The position is available now with training available to commence as soon as is possible for the successful applicant.

Previous experience in a similar role and familiarity with basic medical terminology is preferred, with knowledge of Best Practice software a definite advantage. Computer skills are essential.

Applicants must possess a pleasant and polite manner, good communication skills, the ability to be organised and to work with a busy but friendly team, with a highly professional attitude.

Fluent English is an essential requirement; a second language skill is welcome.

General duties include but are not restricted to greeting and registering patients, managing and triaging appointments, answering telephone calls and enquiries, billing patients, liaison with Medicare and support services, filing/scanning/emailing/faxing/managing patient records (mainly computerised but some paper files), managing daily mail, accounts and banking, stocktaking and ordering of medical/office supplies, with other general office duties such as tidying and cleaning.

A willingness to learn and to take instruction, with the ability to multi-task effectively, and a desire to have a long-term role in our surgery are very important.
