About the Position
This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your anatomy wet lab experience in a newly created position of Senior Technical Officer, Anatomy Laboratories within the Faculty of Health Science and Medicine (HSM) Laboratory Services Team.
The University is about to commence a large capital project that includes building new anatomy wet – laboratories, and this position will be pivotal in the operationalisation of these high-end facilities. The Senior Technical Officer will also play a key role in maintaining high-quality laboratory environments and ensuring the ethical and compliant handling of human anatomical materials.
As a team leader, the position will foster a culture of continuous improvement, providing training in anatomical techniques and supporting the team to deliver high quality services and skills in a positive work environment.
Key responsibilities include:
· Manage and coordinate technical staff in the delivery of anatomy laboratory services.
· Apply technical expertise to effectively operationalise new anatomy laboratories
· Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Transplantation and Anatomy Act 1979 (Qld) and WHS regulations.
· Liaise with academic staff, to coordinate practical class preparation and contribute to the revision and enhancement of anatomy curriculum delivery
· Oversee equipment maintenance and specimen handling.
· Contribute to a positive workplace culture, operational efficiency, skills development, and continuous improvement principles.
About the Person
We are seeking a motivated and experienced professional with strong technical and administrative skills to lead the daily operations of our anatomy laboratories. With a proactive approach to compliance, team leadership, and continuous improvement you’ll thrive working both independently and collaboratively.
Key attributes include:
· A qualification in health sciences, biomedical science, anatomy, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
· Hands-on experience in the preparation, handling, and prosection of human anatomical specimens, with a commitment to ethical and respectful practices
· A sound understanding of relevant legislation and compliance frameworks, including the Transplantation and Anatomy Act 1979 (Qld) and WHS protocols
· Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including mentoring technical staff and coordinating day-to-day laboratory operations
· Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively across academic and professional teams

Salary details
The salary for the position commences at $87,948.96 per annum, plus 12% superannuation.
