Property Officer

We are seeking a dedicated Property Officer to manage the day-to-day tenancy and property operations across our Community Services programs. This pivotal role ensures that our properties are well maintained, compliant, and support the wellbeing of tenants.

About the Role

Reporting to the Program Manager – Community Services, you’ll be responsible for overseeing tenancy lifecycles, coordinating maintenance and inspections, maintaining regulatory compliance, and working closely with clients, case officers, and external partners. This role will support our Community Services programs to ensure they are responsive, high quality, and tenant focused.

Key Responsibilities

Manage property entry/exits, inspections, and condition reports.

Respond to maintenance and repair requests, ensuring timely action and compliance.

Coordinate fire and safety requirements and ensure WHS standards are met.

Build and maintain positive relationships with landlords, real estate agents, and service contractors.

Provide guidance to tenants around tenancy matters.

Oversee rent and tenancy management systems and maintain accurate records.

Ensure documentation, leases and contracts are up to date and compliant.

Prepare reports and data as required for internal and external obligations.

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

Certificate IV in Community Services (Housing or Child Safety) and/or 3+ years of experience in tenancy/property management.

Sound knowledge of tenancy regulations, licensing requirements and compliance frameworks in social housing and/or child safety.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Proven time management, organisational and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Current Working with Children Check (WWCC), Blue Card, and Open ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence.

Desirable:

Experience using housing rent and tenancy management systems.

Knowledge of local rental markets and property maintenance procedures.

Experience managing contractor relationships and developing preferred supplier arrangements.

Strong IT and data management skills, including Microsoft Office.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must address the following Selection Criteria in their cover letter:

Well-developed knowledge of tenancy regulations and property management practices, including vacancy management, arrears monitoring and inspections.

Understanding of regulatory compliance in social housing and/or licensed child safety programs.

Demonstrated experience in delivering asset/property services within legislative guidelines.

A passion for social justice and an understanding of the intersection between housing and wellbeing.

Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder communication skills.

Proven experience in project or change management, data analysis, and report preparation.

Ability to manage competing demands and deadlines while working both autonomously and as part of a team.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a demonstrated capacity to learn new systems and platforms.
