Our Client
Our client is a part of the iconic Snowy Hydro 2.0 project in Cooma. As a leading heavy mechanical engineering, services and contracting business operating throughout Australia and New Zealand, they perform an integral role in the development of ANZ infrastructure across mining and resources, transport and power markets.
About the Role
This Human Resources Business Partner role is responsible for the smooth and efficient handling of all HR related processes of the Snowy project site and for providing advice in the areas of employee and industrial relations.
Maintaining an in-depth grasp of the contract schedule and budget and aligned with the site management team of this mega construction project, you’ll ensure bottlenecks are discovered proactively and mitigation measures are developed for timely availability of resources.
Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic partner to business leaders, understanding their goals and aligning HR solutions to support them.
- Participate in regular meetings with stakeholders to provide HR insights, influence decision-making, and identify opportunities for people and culture improvements.
- Collaborate with leadership to plan and implement workforce strategies, including succession planning, talent development, and organisational design.
- Analyse workforce data and feedback to provide recommendations on engagement, retention, and team effectiveness.
- Lead or support change management initiatives, ensuring timely communication and alignment with business needs.
- Partner with recruitment, L&D, and payroll teams to ensure smooth delivery of people-related processes.
Required Skills and Experience
- Human Resource degree desirable
- Leverage your demonstrated knowledge of industrial relations to provide ongoing support to managers in handling works at site, solving problems and aligning with future trends
- HSE and Construction Mindset
- Previous demonstrated experience in a Senior position
- 5+ years’ experience in site resources management in large construction projects
- Excellent knowledge in HR processes, HR Management Plans, IR Management labour law for both local and non-resident employees
- Strong grasp of Australian employment law
- Full working rights
- Able to commute to Cooma 2 weeks out of the month and work in the Smithfield office. Travel and accommodation to Cooma provided. Fly or drive.
- $130K + Super + bonus
- Two-year fixed-term contract with the potential for extension or permanency
About the Project
Snowy 2.0 is the next generation of the iconic Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme, and construction of this major pumped hydro project is well underway. Once complete, the Scheme will provide 2000 megawatts of dispatchable, on-demand renewable power and approximately 350,000 megawatt hours of large-scale energy storage to the Australian National Electricity Market.
