Join a high-performing, supportive, and professional team within the Office of Industrial Relations (OIR), providing vital support to the Executive Director of Policy and Workplace Services (PWS). PWS leads strategic policy, workplace health and safety initiatives, advisory services, and family liaison support to help Queensland industries create safer, healthier workplaces.
As Executive Officer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, confidential executive support in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. You'll need to be proactive, adaptable, highly organised, and an effective communicator who can confidently manage competing priorities while building strong professional relationships.
What you'll be doing:
• Provide trusted, proactive support to the Executive Director, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of the office.
• Coordinate and manage key administrative tasks, including diary and travel management, meeting agendas, minute-taking, and records handling.
• Prepare, edit, and quality assure briefing materials, correspondence, and reports.
• Support the preparation of high-level departmental briefings and ministerial communications.
• Monitor HR-related documentation such as payroll and leave reports and coordinate with internal HR teams as needed.
• Be the first point of contact for the Executive Director, managing stakeholder relationships with professionalism and discretion.
• Exercise sound judgment on what requires escalation versus what can be actioned independently.
• Work collaboratively with other team members to maintain a respectful, inclusive and high-performing culture.
What we're looking for:
We're looking for a skilled professional with:
• Strong experience in administrative support at a senior level, ideally within government or a complex organisation.
• Excellent written communication skills, with high attention to detail and ability to produce clear, concise documents.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with electronic document management systems.
• Exceptional time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills, including discretion when handling confidential or sensitive matters.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• A commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace culture.
