About the Firm:
With a history dating back nearly a century, our client has built a reputation for integrity, respect, and professionalism. Through strategic growth and mergers over the years, they have expanded their services to serve a diverse client base, including private individuals, families, and businesses of various sizes. Their dedicated team of experienced professionals is committed to delivering trusted advice and high-quality services, continuing their tradition of excellence and client focus.
What you’ll be doing:
You will provide pragmatic, high-quality legal advice on a broad range of employment issues, including reviewing employment contracts and workplace policies, dealing with disputes such as unfair dismissal and discrimination, and managing general protections cases.
You will represent clients in tribunals, courts, and mediations, ensuring their rights are protected and disputes resolved efficiently. The role involves engaging in negotiations, mediations, and settlement discussions to help clients resolve issues amicably.
In addition to advocacy, you will draft and review various legal documents, including employment contracts, notices, and correspondence. Staying current with employment law developments through legal research will be essential to providing accurate advice and effective strategies.
You may also be involved in delivering training or educational sessions to clients and community groups, as well as contributing to policy and law reform initiatives that impact employment protections.
Key areas of work include:
Providing guidance to clients on entitlements outlined in awards, EBAs, determinations, and employment contracts.
Supporting clients with drafting standard documents such as offer and engagement letters, HR policies, delegation instruments, and ensuring legislative compliance.
Representing clients in disputes before the Fair Work Commission (FWC), Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCA), and Federal Court of Australia (FCA) concerning alleged breaches of general protections, contract breaches, unlawful terminations, bullying, EBA entitlements, and other related issues.
Carrying out investigations into allegations of misconduct or corruption, including under the Public Service Act 1999 (Cth) and Public Interest Disclosure Act 2013 (Cth).
Who we’re looking for:
A qualified solicitor, ideally anyone at an Associate level through to Special Counsel with experience in employment law
Skilled in managing employment disputes and tribunal procedures
Experienced working with SME clients and providing practical, solutions-focused advice
Excellent negotiator and communicator, capable of representing clients confidently
A team player who is diligent, professional, and client-focused
Someone eager to stay informed about legal developments and contribute to broader policy initiatives
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established firm that values its staff and offers a supportive environment for professional growth.
If you’re interested in learning more about this role, I’d be pleased to discuss further.
