Wauchope Catholic Parish (Our Lady of Lourdes Parish), part of the Diocese of Lismore, is seeking applications from suitably qualified persons for the permanent, part-time role of Parish Secretary.
The parish serves the growing towns and villages of Wauchope, Beechwood, Long Flat and surrounds. Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Parish has a long and proud history in the local community. The Parish Secretary will be responsible for the administrative and associated support for the parish and management of the parish office.
The Parish Secretary manages all aspects of the parish administration, from managing enquiries, preparing and publishing newsletters/bulletins, financial administration, reception, sacrament support and preparing correspondence.
As the parish participates in a Diocesan renewal program, applicants with skills on social media platforms and interest in increasing community engagement will be well regarded.
Salary and Hours of Work
The successful applicant can negotiate set hours and days of work over Monday to Friday (between 15-25 hours/week with school hours option). We encourage applications from parents, carers and those stepping down from the full-time workforce.
The hourly rate is between $29.70-$32.45 per hour plus 12% superannuation (Clerks Award Level 3-5 depending on skills and experience). As a permanent, part-time role, this position includes annual leave and other paid leave entitlements.
Selection Criteria
An understanding of and ability to work within the mission, values and principles of the Catholic Church.
At least four years’ experience in an administrative role, or experience and relevant qualification(s).
Administrative skills, including drafting professional correspondence, preparing communications, scheduling, minutes, filing and computer systems (including Microsoft Office suite).
General financial administration skills, including experience with accounting software (such as MYOB).
Excellent interpersonal skills with a connection to the local community, or proven ability to develop strong relationships within a similar organisation, such as community-focused or faith-based.
Ability to engage the community through social media and other platforms.
Initiative, judgment, time management and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including excellent grammar, spelling and attention to detail.
