Alcoa is seeking a senior Commissioning Manager to oversee the delivery of commissioning and completions activities for assets installed under our Major Projects Capital program across the Western Australian region.
This role will look after the Western Australia Capital Commissioning Portfolio across the state and is a long term role, initially offered on a 12 month contract.
In this leadership role, you’ll be accountable for ensuring all assets meet safety, quality, schedule, and budget requirements while delivering on operational readiness. You’ll drive the strategic development of commissioning documentation, resource plans, and vendor engagement to ensure seamless integration and handover to operations.
About the Role
- Full lifecycle accountability for commissioning and compliance testing
- Lead cross-functional teams, contractors, and vendors during critical project phases
- Approve commissioning plans, oversee completions certification, and support site readiness
- Ensure commissioning meets Alcoa’s standards in safety, quality, operability, and risk management
- Facilitate communication between projects, operations, and training functions
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering preferred
- Relevant trade qualification with extensive commissioning experience also considered
- 5–10+ years’ experience in senior commissioning or completions leadership roles
- Proven performance delivering large-scale industrial or resources sector projects

Key Accountabilities
- Strategic oversight of commissioning frameworks
- Assurance and verification of documentation, testing, and readiness certifications
- Interface management across project teams, operations, and vendors
- Performance monitoring, punch list resolution, and lessons learned integration
- Final handover and close-out support to operations
Summary:
This role is ideal for a senior-level Technical Assurance Manager with a strategic mindset. Rather than conducting hands-on commissioning activities, the incumbent will lead from a client perspective—providing oversight, governance, and critical review of all commissioning processes. They will guide, challenge, and validate the performance of commissioned assets, ensuring they deliver intended outcomes and operate safely, reliably, and sustainably throughout their lifecycle.
