Position: Project HSE Manager
Company: Tier 1 EPCM in Mining
Location: 2:1 FIFO ext. Perth to Pilbara Region
Employment Type: Contractor
Contract length: Initially 12 Months - Subjected to extensions

Role Responsibilities

This may include responsibilities but not limited to:

Subject Matter Expertise in Health & Safety

o Provide HSE expertise to the EPCM team, ensuring best practices and industry standards are applied.

o Lead safety initiatives (e.g., CRM) and risk assessment workshops to embed safety excellence across the project.

Coach, Mentor & Influence

o Offer safety leadership and mentoring through positive engagement with project and contractor teams.

o Promote positive safety behaviors and influence practical, on-the-ground safety outcomes.

o Champion the I-CARE and Reward & Recognition Programs to reinforce a strong safety culture.

Guide & Navigate the Management System

o Collaborate with contractor management to align with project’s HSE Management System and legislative requirements.

o Support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the site’s Safety Management System.

Compliance & Risk Management

o Assist with incident investigations, ensuring timely reporting and effective corrective actions.

o Help interpret and meet HSE compliance requirements, with a focus on legal obligations and system navigation.

o Monitor contractor and project compliance with project’s HSE systems and maintain proper records.

Support, Facilitate & Drive Improvement

o Facilitate Level 2 and critical risk assessments with relevant stakeholders.

o Analyse HSE data and trends, reporting findings to drive continuous improvement.

o Lead by example, consistently demonstrating positive safety behaviors and a commitment to injury and incident prevention.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Qualifications & Training:

Diploma Occupational/Work Health & Safety

o Construction Induction Training (White Card or equivalent).

o Advanced First Aid

Preferable:

o Lead Auditor Qualified

o ICAM Lead Investigator

o Leadership or Management Qualifications

o Health & Safety Mine Safety Management System (MSMS)

o Critical Risk Management

o Permit to Work

o Isolation & Tagging

o Commissioning

Job Specific:

8+ years of experience in the mining industry, including both construction projects and operational work.

Proven ability to manage and coordinate contractor performance effectively.

Demonstrated leadership in the field, with the ability to influence behaviours across all project levels.

Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to make practical decisions under pressure.

Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities.

Experienced in handling and resolving workplace conflicts constructively.
