This is a rare opportunity to join the administrative team at Melbourne Retina Associates as a part time Medical Receptionist.
This role is maternity leave cover and is a fixed 12 month arrangement.
Located centrally in East Melbourne, Melbourne Retina Associates is a subspecialist ophthalmology clinic dedicated to the management of retinal disease. With six specialists in the practice, our day to day is committed to providing exceptional and pro-active patient care.
In this role you will work alongside a medical secretary to provide front of house and general administrative support for two ophthalmologists. You will be provided with training and guidance to become an integral member of the broader administration team.
Experience in medical reception is essential.
Hourly rate: $30-32 p/hr. (dependent on experience)
Schedule:
Three set days per week with hours varying between:
Tuesday: 9:00am – 6:30pm
Wednesday: 8:30am – 5:30pm
Thursday: 9:00am – 6:30pm
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist patients in a welcoming and professional manner
Managing consulting sessions including:
o Booking appointments
o Attending patients
o Managing referrals
o Processing of consulting billing, taking payments, and lodging Medicare claims
Managing incoming and outgoing phone calls and assisting with scheduling appointments
All aspects of private surgical bookings including:
o Liaising with hospitals and anaesthetists
o Informing patients of admission and informed financial consent details
Surgical billing including:
o Billing private accounts and submissions via Eclipse
o Taking quoted out of pocket fees
End of month tasks including:
o Banking reconciliation
o Debt management and collection
o Reporting of monthly statistics
Maintenance of medical suites including:
o Stocking of rooms with required paperwork
o Assisting orthoptic staff with clinical stock management
o Stationary and clinical stock ordering
Filing and maintenance of patient records in keeping with confidentiality guidelines
Document control including:
o Dictation typing of letters and medical reports
o Distribution of outgoing correspondence
o Scanning of incoming correspondence
Qualifications, Experience, and Attributes:
· Previous experience in an administration or customer service role
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Patience and empathy to assist the elderly and patients with low vision
· Experience with ZedMed essential
· Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office
