The Senior Coordinator – Communications & Development will report to the General Manager is responsible for leading the delivery of effective communications and marketing strategies that advance Her Heart’s mission and strengthen its brand and reputation. This role develops and implements campaigns and content that build public awareness, engage communities, and will directly create and support fundraising activities. In addition this role will have oversight of some partnership activities, and assist with advocacy and program objectives. Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with the senior leadership team the position plays a key role in aligning communications with organizational values, amplifying impact, and supporting the achievement of Her Heart’s strategic goals.
Position Responsibilities :
This role is accountable for planning, coordinating, and delivering a broad range of communication and marketing activities that strengthen Her Heart’s organizational goals. It involves managing brand expression, media outreach, digital presence, and storytelling initiatives to enhance visibility and drive support for the organisation’s work. The position also plays a central role in shaping consumer experiences ensuring consistent messaging across all channels.
Marketing & Fundraising Responsibilities
Develop and implementation of integrated communications and marketing strategies that align with Her Heart’s mission, organisational priorities, and strategic goals.
Provide strategic input into fundraising frameworks, with a focus on diversifying income streams and enhancing long-term donor engagement and retention.
Lead and co-ordinate Her Heart events such as annual conference and Annual RED event
Assistance with co-ordination of any additional events, working with 3rd party providers or volunteers
Ensure brand integrity and consistent external messaging across all platforms, reinforcing Her Heart’s identity, voice, and values.
Design and oversee the delivery of innovative, data-informed fundraising campaigns, ensuring strong storytelling, audience targeting, and measurable impact.
Monitor and manage campaign performance and budgets
Manage digital and social media strategies, ensuring dynamic, engaging content that drives awareness, reach, and action.
Awareness and implementation of AI and its use in communications as well as digital strategies
Support General Manager and leadership team with high-level communication materials and other projects as required
Relationships & Collaboration
Work effectively within a small team to promote a culture of collaboration.
Report to the General Manager, providing high-level advice on communications, brand positioning, and fundraising initiatives.
Support and mentor Communications & Project Officer, actively developing capability development and team performance.
Work collaboratively across a dynamic and cross-functional team, promoting a culture of innovation, transparency, and shared purpose.
Prepare high-quality strategic documents, briefings, and presentations for the CEO, Board, and key stakeholders, providing clear insights and alignment with organisational priorities
General Duties & Flexibility
Support recruitment of partners associated with fundraising, sponsors, and volunteers.
Be flexible to work outside regular hours when needed
Assist with cross-functional activities.
Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO & General Manager
Occasional domestic travel might be required
Requirements & Qualification
Key Selection Criteria
Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Fundraising, or a related field
Minimum of four years’ progressive experience in a relevant role.
Genuinely cares about our cause & wants to make a difference to women’s health
Excellent problem solving skills, is result oriented and self-directed but used to working in small teams and brings a ‘can-do’ attitude
Assumes accountability for own conduct and performance, takes feedback well and fosters a culture of responsibility and integrity within the team and the organization.
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver strategic, audience-focused communication and marketing initiatives that build brand visibility, drive engagement, and support organizational growth across various channels (digital, paper and media)
Demonstrated success in planning and delivering fundraising initiatives, including digital campaigns, donor engagement strategies, grant development support, and revenue growth aligned with organisational priorities.
Strong capability in leveraging digital platforms and emerging technologies including AI tools, marketing automation, and data analytics to drive communication effectiveness, reach, and innovation.
Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Canva, CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot), email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp), and content management systems.
Desirable
Demonstrated strength in end-to-end project management, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines and deliver outcomes across multiple concurrent initiatives.
Strategic mindset with the ability to identify and activate brand-building and revenue-generating opportunities through collaborative marketing and fundraising campaigns.
Preferable work experience within not-for-profit, health, or social impact sectors
Fixed Term 2 years – possibility of extension. A period of 6 months’ probation will be attached to this position
