Communities at Work is Canberra's largest Early Education and Care provider, operating numerous Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) services across Canberra. These services provide before and after school care, and school holiday programs. Our services focus on children. About the role
This is a fixed term role to cover a Parental Leave cover until 31st July 2026.
Under the guidance of Out of School Hours Care Management, promote the provision of inclusive services that are responsive to the needs of children requiring targeted support. The role requires an active and collaborative child-centred approach to the development support planning, risk management, training, and evaluation of strategies.
Strong leadership qualities are required to effectively supervise and guide team members. You will use your knowledge and skills to positively engage a range of stakeholders. Your position will require you to understand children’s diverse needs and create an environment that enhances learning and engagement.
Your duties will include but are not limited to:
· Coordinate stakeholders in developing targeted support planning that is consistent with contemporary best practice
· Monitor reporting platforms to pre-emptively manage risk associated with children’s behaviour
· Provide assessment of enrolments pertaining to inclusion or medical needs prior to first attendance
· Support services in meeting compliance regarding the medical needs of children
· Provide advice to services on the development of inclusive learning environments
· Provide oversight for services in Communities at Work meeting it’s reporting obligations
· Develop and maintain excellent stakeholder relationships for the benefit of Out of School Hours Care and Communities at Work, in particular the Senior Practioner’s Office, and the Inclusion Agency
· Work in partnership with OSHC Senior Educational Leaders to develop the Quality
Improvement Plan areas relevant to Inclusion
· Represent OSHC at relevant meetings and professional development opportunities, as guided by Out of School Hours Care Management
· Other duties as required
Essential Criteria
· Maintain current “Working With Vulnerable People” registration
· Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, or relevant qualification pertaining to disability, therapy and/or relevant support worker.
· Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children
· Sound understanding of National Quality Framework and curriculum planning.
· Demonstrated ability to work with and provide leadership to team members
· High level of organisational, written and oral communication skills
· Understanding and commitment to Work Health and Safety and safe work practices
· Mandatory Reporting Certification
· Current First Aid Certification
· Food Safety Certification
· Current driver’s licence
Desirable
· Experience in Educational Leadership
· Strong ICT skills and experience in database systems
