Position Overview
The Senior Finance Officer sits within the Corporate Services division (please see our Organisation Overview below) and reports into the Chief Financial Officer. The role has responsibility for the delivery of varied & general finance tasks.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The duties outlined below and any other tasks or duties for which you may have the skill, knowledge and/or training that is required of you from time to time.
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
Provide input for budget forecasts
Assist with invoicing, internal process development, process mapping, and policy creation
Ensure the organisation complies with external requirements, including tax regulations, grant funding requirements, ACNC (Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission) and accounting standards
Conduct regular internal reviews of accounting processes
Ensure internal controls are effective, transparent, and well-communicated across the organisation
Prepare BAS (Business Activity Statements) and assist with FBT (Fringe Benefits Tax) returns
Maintain the fixed asset register and perform fixed asset reconciliations
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data and financial systems
Manage grant accounting and prepare grant acquittals
Manage month-end processes, including the preparation of journals and reconciliations
Support the year-end process for external audits and annual reporting
Assist staff with finance-related inquiries.
Perform other finance-related tasks and projects as directed
Selection Criteria
Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in finance or accounting, with formal accounting qualifications, or currently working towards obtaining CPA or CA designation
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Resilient with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Highly motivated, organised, and results-driven
Proven ability to manage competing priorities effectively and efficiently
Demonstrated high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all work
Exceptional attention to detail, persistence, and proactivity
Ability to apply past experience and skills while taking on new challenges
Initiative in driving improvements, managing change, and implementing internal controls within an organisational setting
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
Experience using Microsoft Business Central is an advantage, but not essential
Experience in a finance function within a not-for-profit organisation is desirable
Additional information
A probationary periodof six (6) months will apply to appointees.
Referee checking will be undertaken, and other pre-employment checks may occur prior to any offer of employment.

Our members deliver comprehensive and culturally appropriate, world class primary health care services to their communities.
QAIHC was established in 1990. Our vision is the elimination of disparities in health and wellbeing experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Queensland. QAIHC contributes to this vision by leading the development of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Sector in Queensland through evidence based, practical public policy solutions.

Sector Development Overview
The Sector Development business division of QAIHC works closely with the sector to lead and build the organisational capacity and capability of our members. Our four sector development focus areas cover the risks and opportunities that impact on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Sector in Queensland. We develop the sector through leadership development, education, workforce planning, a Continuous Quality Improvement framework (quality standards and quality management) and through the promotion of a socially equitable funding model and system.
Policy, Advocacy, Leadership & Strategy (PALS) Overview
The Policy and Research business division of QAIHC is responsible for developing high quality public policy, submissions and publications that influence change. Our four policy focus areas (primary health care, health service systems, health funding and health workforce) cover the risks and opportunities that impact on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Sector in Queensland.
This division of QAIHC is also responsible for ensuring that health service leaders in Queensland have an opportunity to contribute directly to the development of public policy and for establishing quality, long term relationships with external partners who want to contribute to the work QAIHC undertakes.
Population and Public Health Overview
The Population and Public health division of QAIHC provides public health and clinical advice and support, and policy analyses consistent with current best or evidence-based practice to member services and relevant QAIHC programs across other Divisions. Support is given for continuing quality improvement, epidemiology and data analysis, disease prevention, health promotion, position statements and submissions, including public health physician training. Member engagement is though the QAIHC Clinical Leaders Forum.
Corporate Services Overview
The Corporate Services business division of QAIHC provides high level entity-wide administrative and operational support to all QAIHC. This support includes financial, facility and information and communication technology (ICT) systems and process management. The Corporate Services business division is responsible for human resource support services, procurement and the marketing and communication functions of QAIHC.
