About the role
ngurrak barring | RidgeWalk invites us to explore the natural wonders, rich histories and cultural offerings of the region. Delivering 14km of new and improved tracks, architectural nodes, permanent sculptures, land art and heritage interpretation, it includes a program of exhibitions and performances, attracting visitors from across the country and around the world.
Reporting into the Manager Economy, Tourism and Culture, the ngurrak barring | Ridgewalk Cultural Lead will oversee the development and delivery of the creative and cultural outcomes detailed in the project plan, as guided by the ngurrak barring | RidgeWalk Master Plan. Working with the endorsed ngurrak barring curatorial principles, the role manages the Public Art Programs Officer and contractors, and facilitates stakeholders, project delivery groups and other Council services.
The role will focus on delivering the creative program, achieving the curatorial aspiration for the project, and leading the establishment of the governance structure for the completed project and its future function.
This is a full-time, parental leave backfill position (38 hours per week), until March 2026.
This is a Band 7 role, with a salary range between $107,314 and $115,776 per annum, plus superannuation.
Support work life balance with a monthly RDO and hybrid working arrangements.
Experience and skills we’re looking for
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Bachelor’s degree, Diploma or tertiary qualifications in arts, culture, curatorial or museum studies (or equivalent), or extensive relevant experience.
The ability to manage the development, design and delivery of cultural infrastructure and activation projects involving multiple stakeholders.
Strong cultural awareness and proven experience engaging with First Nations artistic and cultural practices, as well as First Nations communities
Strong understanding of public programming, activations, events management, and community engagement involving multiple stakeholders, within the context of public art, placemaking and participatory art projects.
Experience in the development and establishment of future governance structure and operating models for public art installations.
Strong advocacy and influencing skills to manage complex stakeholder relationships.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills including writing associated with activations (program proposal, grants, marketing collateral, reports).
Strong local and national networks, to support programming that is ambitious and engages broad and diverse audiences.
Some experience in fundraising, governance and philanthropic funding would be an advantage.
