The Role

As Fabrication Leading Hand, you’ll report to the Production Manager and:

Coordinate a small team of tradespeople and shop hands

Lead hands-on fabrication as a critical part of our project delivery operations

Balance shop-floor duties with real-time problem solving and process improvement

What You’ll Do

Jump onto the tools daily: MIG/TIG welding, pipe cutting, bending, assembly

Work with Production Manager to align scheduling and task allocation with project delivery requirements to meet timeframes

Read and apply technical drawings, job sheets, and production schedules.

Perform quality checks, complete ITPs and dispatch documentation

Monitor stock levels, flag shortages to Purchasing, and prevent delays

Drive continuous improvement by suggesting layout, tooling, or process tweaks

Uphold WHS protocols and maintain a clean, safe workshop environment

Provide insights on costings and methodologies for Estimating

What You Bring

Trade qualification and proven fabrication background

LF forklift license and proven experience

Solid welding and metal-working skills—verified on the job, not just on paper

Leadership flair: comfortable teaching, allocating, and holding your team accountable

Sharp eye for detail and quality, backed by structured reporting habits

Proactive mindset: you spot inefficiencies and own their solutions
