To support this growth, we’re looking for a capable and driven Leading Hand to lead site delivery, mentor our workforce, and ensure project success.

The Role

As a Leading Hand at DGE, you will take the lead on commercial electrical projects, overseeing the day-to-day operations on-site and managing a team of apprentices and tradespeople. Working closely with our Project Managers and Engineers, you will be responsible for delivering quality outcomes on time, ensuring safety, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and subcontractors. This is a full-time leadership position based in Townsville, with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact as we expand in the region.

You’ll be involved in a variety of projects, including:

General power and communication installations for office fit outs and restaurants

Small works, repairs, installations, and service maintenance

Medical and health facility electrical projects

Main switchboard upgrades and infrastructure works

Field lighting and specialty electrical installations

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and lead site operations across multiple commercial electrical projects

Supervise and support apprentices, electricians, and subcontractors on-site

Coordinate works to align with project schedules, safety plans, and client expectations

Conduct on-site inspections and ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements

Communicate effectively with the Project Manager to report progress, address site issues, and manage variations

Ensure job documentation, SWMS, toolbox talks, and inductions are completed and up to date

Maintain a professional and organised site environment, upholding DGE’s high standards

Foster a team culture that prioritises safety, mentorship, and continuous improvement

Requirements:

Current QLD Electrical Fitter Mechanic licence with ideally 5 years+ post-trade qualified experience

Current White Card

Unrestricted (preferably) Manual Drivers licence

Current LVR/CPR training

Current respiratory mask test fit

Current Working at Heights certificate

Current EWP licence
