About the role

Curtin University is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Analyst to join our Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) team. In this role, you will play a key part in enabling innovative, tech-driven change by engaging with stakeholders across the university to understand business needs and deliver tailored digital solutions that support improved outcomes.

You’ll be at the centre of change initiatives that impact a broad range of academic and professional services, playing a vital role in Curtin’s ongoing digital evolution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead engagement and collaborate with business owners and stakeholders to understand business needs, identify problems, and define clear objectives and future-state requirements.
  • Analyse and document current and future-state business processes, system functionalities, and relevant data to support informed decision-making.
  • Elicit, prepare, and validate detailed business rules and user requirements, ensuring alignment with stakeholder expectations and real business needs.
  • Facilitate solution design sessions with technical teams and contribute to implementation using recognised methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall.
  • Support change management and resource planning activities, ensuring users are informed and prepared for new or enhanced systems and processes.
  • Contribute to and align with best practices employed within the Business Analysis and UX Design team.
  • Demonstrate high standards of professional conduct, participate in post-implementation reviews, and undertake additional duties aligned with the role and the University's values.

Selection Criteria:

  • A relevant degree and considerable experience in business analysis, or an equivalent combination of education/training and experience.
  • Demonstrated success in reviewing business processes and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience using structured delivery methodologies (e.g., Agile, waterfall).
  • The ability to produce high-quality business documentation.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of software development lifecycles and ICT standards.
  • Prior experience in the higher education sector.
  • Experience using digital whiteboarding tools such as Miro and Figma

Role Requirements:

  1. Current Permanent Australian working rights. Please note that visa sponsorship and/or relocation will not be supported for this role.
  2. Willing to undertake a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s satisfaction.
