The Diocese of Broken Bay is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Finance Officer to join our Financial Services Team within the Chancery. This is a permanent full-time position, offering the opportunity to work across a broad range of financial functions in support of the Church’s mission and community.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, you’ll play an important role in the day-to-day financial operations of the Diocese. You’ll be responsible for delivering quality finance services including accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, reporting and data management.
This position provides the opportunity to develop your skills in a stable and supportive team environment, while contributing to the broader purpose of the Church’s work in parishes and ministries.
Key Responsibilities
Process supplier invoices and payments, including reconciliation of accounts
Raise and manage receivable invoices, follow up outstanding payments and receipting
Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet items, credit cards and petty cash
Maintain and update spreadsheets and the accounting system accurately and efficiently
Assist in financial reporting, month-end processes, and data analysis
Respond to finance-related queries and support parishes with day-to-day finance requests
Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to support good financial stewardship across the Diocese
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
Experienced in accounts payable, receivable and reconciliations
Confident using financial systems and Excel (MYOB or similar experience preferred)
Well-organised, with high attention to detail and accuracy
A strong communicator who enjoys working in a team environment
Able to manage deadlines and prioritise effectively
Professional, discreet and respectful of confidentiality
Holds relevant qualifications in accounting, finance, or business administration
Supportive of the values and mission of the Catholic Church
Willing to undergo a National Police History Check
